Background

Career History

Our education is from Eastern Cape & Western Cape Based scholastic and Academic Institutes and in fields of Architecture and Design and related disciplines.

Dion is experienced in the private sector mainly in Construction Project implementation.

He started his career as a business planner for a carpentry factory.

While John has a number of years experience in Parastatal Corporate Governmental Institutions mainly in Project Management and team leadership.

He started his career as a recruitee at horticulture and landscaping centre.

Together they make and formidable team and are able to, at any time, to draw upon a good and varied basis of knowledge, associates and network of inter disciplinary related resources and infrastructure.

Our business is based on our productive history, technical expertise and area of interest and experience.

We however are determined to permanent expansive growth of our business and are committed to employment and development of competent people hence we do accept challenges of any type, which we are prepared to handle under our projects management skills.

Unlike in some other regions of the world where it is frowned upon not to be working specifically in one's sector or area of expertise, we are multi skilled problem solvers and will accept jobs our clients my direct to us.

John oversees a entrepreneurial and small emerging farmer group, producing organic herbs & vegetables, of companies working on outskirts of Khayalitsha, Cape Town they are with the aim of commercialisation of this project.

Strategically, we are positioning ourselves to, affect the development of our employees to become “stand alone” private subcontractor companies where we would own a managing portion thereof in order to ensure proper development and sustainability, of their enterprises.

Background

The People

The Riggs Brothers are a Cape Town, South African based company.

We trace our origins of European descent and to, some of the first to arrive,
who are 5th & 6th generation of immigrants to Southern Africa after arrivals in 1652 and 1820 by Settlers.

Although we are with European ancestry, yet call ourselves African being sensitised to this environment,
and as a result of being born and breed here.

In our linage and history we trace characters and events related to French revolution of 16th, Crimean War,
and concessions awarded to senior employees of British, Scottish and Irish Monarchies or early 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.
Perhaps some of our “warrior's (synonymous to adventurous in today's terms) spirit” and
“aristocratic (synonymous, perhaps, to business & capitalist in today's terms )spirit ”is still embodied
in our present day character.
Family names in our ancestry include: Horak, Kettlitz, Koopmans DeWet, Ashwell, Combrinck, Marais,
Bellingham-Marias, Van DerWalt and seemingly also De Villiers families.
(As with a large number of Afrikaaner families it is now accepted that a number of us are with very mixed
and sometimes undocumented, or suppressed, ancestry including Moslem Cape Malay, Jewish,
French Huguenot Protestants making us as South Africans a truly diverse people).
